Will I turn orange?
High PH levels in skin can sometimes give individuals an undesireable “fake” non natural looking
sunless color. Sunless application on skin that is out of balance due to high PH levels sometimes results in
what many people refer to as an orange coloring. To prevent this from happening, there are a few things you

What is DHA?

Will sunless stain my hair?
It can to blondes, gray or light colored hair temporarily from the cosmetic bronzers. You can wear a hair cap
but be very careful not to cause a tan line.
How should I prepare for a sunless spray tan?
1. Gently exfoliate.
2. Any waxing services should be done 24 hours prior to sunless application.
3. Remove any barriers that may prevent the product from absorbing into the skin evenly.
4. Optimize your PH levels by not using bar soaps. We will spray you with PH balancing spray
which will do three things.
1. Boosts amino acid levels which work directly with DHA, to maximize your sunless color.
2. Balances the PH on the skin to reduce any orange coloring and produce golden brown results.
3. Hydrates skin for even and maximum absorption of sunless solution.
How can I prevent patchy or uneven wear-off?
Each person’s skin is different. Gently exfoliate skin before each session. Keep skin hydrated inside and out
using a product like Norvell Daily Replenishing 24 hour Moisturizer or a daily application of Norvell Color
Extender Pro-Long Moisturizer will extend your tan. This bronzing booster will also reduce the appearance of
uneven wear and patchiness.
It is also recommended that individuals not tan more than 3 times in a 2 week period. For frequent tanning
clients, we recommend using Norvell Intensive Detoxifying Salt Scrub 1 to 2 times a month to remove sunless
tanning build up. Be sure to wait 24 hours before applying any sunless product, and do not shave immediately
prior to using Salt Scrub.
Should I allow the skin to rest between sessions?
Just don't tan more than 3 times in a two week period. Spray too frequently may also cause skin to exfoliate
more quickly which will make the tan fade faster.
How long does a spray tan take to dry?
8 to 10 minutes
How dark will my tan appear after one application?
Results will vary
Will a sunless tan protect me from UV sun rays?
No you still need SPF protection
How long after tanning should I wait to enjoy a pool or spa?
We recommend avoiding these for the first 48 hours. Chlorine increases the rate in which skin exfoliates itself.
How does sunless work?
The principle tanning agent used in all self-tanning formulas is dihydroxyacetone (DHA). This ingredient
does not produce a “real tan” by increasing the skins melanin levels, rather it creates a tanned appearance
by developing a brown color on the surface of the skin.
The action of DHA is limted to the upper layer of the skin and involves a reaction between DHA and the
skin’s proteins and oxygen that produces brown compounds. Similar to when you cut up an apple and the
surface of the apple browns when exposed to oxygen in the air.
How long will my sunless tan last?
Usually lasts 5-7 days. It begins to fade as the top layer of skin naturally exfoliates.
Why should I moisturize to maintain my sunless tan?
Dry flakey skin will slough off faster. Color will fade faster.
Will the bronzers from a spray tan application rub-off on my clothes?
We recommend loose fitting clothing. Try to refrain from physical exertion that results in sweating until you
shower off the cosmetic bronzer. In most cases the color will wash off clothing. Bronzers may stain light hair,
wool, spandex, lycra, silks or other fine fabrics.
How long should I wait before I shower?
Minimum of 8 hours, 24 hours optimal.

No, It doesn’t cover them either. What is darker will stay darker. What is lighter will stay lighter in contrast
